Welcome to the SAR technology page
New Zealanders are an innovative bunch. Happy to take an idea or concept and improve on it or to invent the solutions needed to solve real world problems. The Search and Rescue organisation in NZ has its share of innovators who are constantly coming up with bright new ideas.
These pages are intended to help people keep up with some of these developments.
The content for these pages is derived from a variety of sources. My experiences with the Hamilton SAR Group and YSAR Hamilton provides a major contribution.
I am always keen to hear about the work and ideas of other Groups and individuals. Please let me know or contact me if you have information relevant to these pages.
Why the association with YSAR? The YSAR members are directly or indirectly responsible for much of the development and /or testing. In fact a lot of these developments would not have happened without the regular YSAR camps every 2 to 3 weeks.
Do you have an idea or technology you would like tested? The YSAR members provide an ideal means to conduct tests in a real SAR environment. Plus they are always keen to try new things and ideas.
Our tests on Survival Bags and more recent Whistle Tests are now published on our Testing page.
The content of these pages in no way suggests or implies endorsement, support or ownership by Land SAR New Zealand of any of the material or ideas.
