YSAR is about having fun, mixing with neat people and enjoying the bush while at the same time learning all about Search and Rescue. As you will see from the pictures, we have serious times, funny times, and downright stupid times!

One of the goals of the YSAR Group is to train young people to the standard required so they can join the local SAR Group while learning to love and enjoy being in the NZ bush. Click here to learn more about the Hamilton SAR Group.

YSAR provides an ideal opportunity for any 14 to 18 year old who enjoys the outdoors and is willing to make a serious commitment to the Group. The initial twelve month training program is very intense. It requires attendance at a training meeting every Wednesday night (during the school term) plus attendance at the weekend camps held every second or third weekend.

We are now accepting names for the February 2009 YSAR intake in Hamilton and Tauranga. Contact us if you are interested or better still, download and complete the Membership Application Form (under More Links) and send it to us. We will make sure your name is on the list which is filling up fast.

Applications close 17th February 2009. Interviews will be held during the month leading up to the closing date.
