Timberline Jackets
It is important to
keep these Jackets clean so that the look good and work well.
Unfortunately the
dirt from the supplejack and trees in the NZ bush is hard to remove possibly
because it is a mould rather than dirt. A normal washing machine will not remove
it. Hence these instructions.
Your Jacket should
be washed after every few uses, even though it may look clean, to remove the
accumulated body fats and oils that reduce the ability of the material to breath.
To clean the jackets
1
Remove
all the stuff from the pockets – including the popsicle sticks
2
3
Put the
Jacket through a normal washing machine wash with a normal household laundry
detergent
4
Scrub
the remaining dirt from the orange material using a scrubbing brush and a Sunlite type of soap (that is soaps without caustic
chemicals).
5
6
Rinse
the Jacket a several times by hand in a bucket of warm water to remove the
detergent
7
Tumble
dry the Jacket on a warm to high setting (around 55 degrees) for 20 to 30 minutes.
This is important for restoring the waterproof properties of the Jackets.
