Leave Aberdeen Hall car park by bus Friday 7.00pm
Head home to be at Were residence 4.00pm Sunday
Variations of arrival time back in Hamilton to be notified by each YSAR member to their parent by phone or txt.

Friday
Travel by bus to end of Rolley Road
Walk to camp site and establish camp using improvised shelter
Saturday
Dismantle camp and leave in teams of two at 20 minute intervals for Karamu
Camp in bush near Karamu for the evening
Sunday
Walk to the road and change for caving trip
Caving trip starting around 9.00am finish approx 2.30pm
Food and Equipment
You will need to bring your own food for the weekend

This includes a meal for Friday night if you do not eat before you leave home

Includes breakfast, lunch, dinner for Saturday plus breakfast and lunch for Sunday.

Lots of snack foods
No day pack is needed – all your gear should fit inside your main pack. Keep attachments on the outside of your pack to a minimum.
Bring your compass.
Be prepared for wet weather
Other items you will need: pencil and paper, sleeping bag, torches, change of clothes, sunblock, insect repellent, antihistamines.
You must have all the Compulsory Items on the day-walk gear list

For the caving trip lights and helmets will be provided

You will need a layer of warm THERMAL clothes against your skin – top and legs. This must be polypropylene or merino.

A change of clothes for after is important – you are likely to get VERY wet and VERY dirty in the cave. The clothes for caving can be left in the bus on Friday night

Overalls or old clothes to protect your thermals are a good idea

No special footwear is required for the caving – normal tramping shoes, boots or runners are fine

Distance of walk on Saturday approx 7km. On Sunday the distance from the camp to FilleryRoad is 1km and then to the cave 700m
